It takes all of this – and more – to make it as an artist. The “and more” is where NFAA’s youngARTS program comes in. We provide support, education, and recognition to high school senior–aged artists at a critical time in their emerging careers.

We contact every high school in the country in our search for the year’s most talented artists. The artists come from a range of disciplines in the performing, visual, and literary arts: classical music, jazz and popular music, voice, dance, film and video, photography, theater, visual arts, and writing. We are the only organization that encourages and recognizes artistic excellence in all art forms.

Acting

youngARTS evaluates students against a standard of excellence for their discipline and age. Approximately 10 percent of the 6-8,000 annual applicants receive scholarships and awards. Of those, up to 150 students are chosen to participate in youngARTS Week, during which they are brought to Miami for an all-expenses-paid week of master classes, showcase performances, exhibitions, interdisciplinary activities, enrichment programs, interviews, and the final auditions.

youngARTS winners share $500,000 in cash awards – an additional $3 million in scholarship opportunities is available to all youngARTS applicants.

NFAA is the exclusive nominating agency for the Presidential Scholars in the Arts. NFAA also supports young artists through its programs for alumni, including internships, grants, awards, and career development opportunities.

August 2008 Illustration News

http://www.hollicongerstudios.com/

Happy August! It's super hot here in the south so I've been staying in and working on several projects. A few fun ones have been for Scholastic, LifeWay and The Clever Factory. One of my BIG projects I've been working on is getting an image library together to start licensing my work, but more to come about that later!

I'm currently accepting new and exciting projects so feel free to contact me or my agent, Maggie. She's awesome!
